(SCULPTURE BY) THE SEA IS CALLING
Our Year 12 Visual Art students had an inspiring day exploring the renowned 'Sculpture by the Sea' exhibition at Cottesloe Beach, this week.
Students immersed themselves in a world of creativity, surrounded by captivating sculptures from both international and national contemporary artists. From mesmerising concepts to unique shapes, sizes, and colours, our artists took the time to appreciate and analyse each piece.
The day was filled with insightful discussions as they wandered among the artworks, delving into their structures and deeper meanings within our groups.
It's remarkable to witness our students actively engaging with such diverse and thought-provoking artwork right here in our community. These opportunities not only foster creativity and inspiration but also provide invaluable insights for students exploring potential career paths in the arts.

Recently our Year 9s got hands-on in our local estuary studying Blue Manna Crabs. With the skills learnt in Outdoor Education, they were able to take out our powerboats from the JTC Marine Centre in Dawesville, drop nets and record crucial data on crab populations. And the excitement doesn't end there! Later this year, we'll hit the shores of Safety Bay Beach for snorkeling adventures, comparing Blue Manna populations in estuary and ocean ecosystems.
Don't miss out on this incredible opportunity to surf the waves of Biological and Marine Science and outdoor exploration at JTC!

READY FOR ADVENTURE!
Our Year 7 students had a blast at their first overnight school camp at the Dawesville Marine Centre.
They arrived at the Campus by boat, after having a close encounter with our local dolphins in Mandjar Bar. It was an incredible opportunity to learn how to identify dolphins and understand their social habits, including the lifelong friendships they form.
During the two-day camp, students had a blast with surf lifesaving and water safety lessons, along with some cool surfing and flag races to beat the heat. Meanwhile, in our science classes, we dived into the fascinating world of marine life, dissecting mussels to explore their anatomy.
Check out the photos below or, if you missed it, click the link for a demonstration by Imogen in mussel dissection.

ENVIRONMENTAL CHAMPIONS!
Our Year 7 and 9 Surf Science Specialist classes made waves for Cleanup Australia Day, gathering 29kg of litter and fishing lines from the Caddup Reserve and Dawesville Cut fishing platforms.
This hands-on experience not only helps to protect our marine life and seabirds from entanglement but also creates a sense of pride within our environment.
Our students are able to gain invaluable real-world learning opportunities, including our Digital Technology students who will now analyse and input the data collected by our Surf Science students, and provide this information to the Clean Up Australia Day organisation.
Way to go, team!
