About our Libraries

John Tonkin College Libraries provide quality information resources and services to the school community. We deliver an engaging and accessible service for students and staff and encourage self-directed learning and a love of reading and research.

The Library at Met Campus is a shared facility which includes John Tonkin College and South Metropolitan TAFE.  Tindale Campus library provides resources and information to the middle school.

The Libraries are innovative academic environments, where all students are encouraged to show respect to each other and their surroundings.

Our qualified library staff administer programs and displays that further the learning objectives of the College, and are always available to help our students develop their independent study skills and  pursuit of reading, through our diverse collections.

Jenni Williams, Library Manager

As an avid reader myself, I encourage students to participate in the selection of new resources by suggesting new, current and trending resources. Knowledge is power and where better to find it than in our library collection and a good book.

Jenni Williams, Library Manager

I love to surprise students with a book that can match their interests. Most students have seen movies and many are unaware that the book is even better. The even more wonderful thing is that research has shown school libraries have a positive impact on student literacy and learning outcomes, which remains true even when such variables as socioeconomic factors are taken into account.
